Tulsequah Chief Mine Webinar Updates

On 12/3/25 the British Columbia Mines Ministry, the Taku River Tlingit First Nation, and Teck Resources held a webinar to provide an update on progress toward getting the Tulsequah Chief mine closed and cleaned up.  The update was intended primarily for downstream interests, and if there was any question whether or not Alaskans are concerned about the well being of the Taku, that was answered.  The webinar had more than 75 attendees, to capacity,” with some people unable to log in because the session was “full.”  The Juneau Independent article linked here summarizes the presentation.  It’s clear some important preliminary and praiseworthy remediation work is happening, but there is also reason for concern that the process is taking longer than anticipated and would benefit from more prioritization.
